Michael W. Dickinson was champion
steeplechase trainer fro three years in England. He has five
entries in the Guinness Book of World Records, including the world
record for number of winners in one day (twelve). He trained the first
five finishing horses in the Cheltenham Gold Cup (Grade I), the
"Kentucky Derby" of steeplechasing. He began training in
America in 1987. Since then he has won more than 40 stakes races,
including the Breeders' Cup Mile (Grade I, twice), The Sword Dancer
Handicap (Grade I), The Del Mar Derby (Grade II), The Jersey Derby
(Grade II), The Delaware Handicap (Grade II), The Bowling Green Handicap
(Grade II), etc.
Purse winnings in 1995, 1996 and 1998 were all over $1
million. 1998 was his best season ever, highlighted by the
extraordinary repeat win of Da Hoss in the Breeders' Cup Mile.
